The Greatest Cult on Earth

The Random House Webster's Unabridged Dictionary, 1998, defines cult as: "A religion or sect considered to be false, unorthodox, or extremist, with members often (but not always) living outside of conventional society under the direction of a charismatic leader."

In a Christian context, any church or group that encourages its members to devote themselves to any man other than Jesus Christ, is not established upon the fundamental truths of the Bible, and therefore would be considered a cult. To say it simply, a cult is a group of people who follow a man!

Who can forget about the Jonestown massacre in Guyana, South America; or the deluded individuals of Heaven's Gate, who thought they were chosen to ride on the tail Hale-Bopp; or the tragedy that occurred in Waco, Texas, to name a few.

In the past there have been many individuals who have labored to expose various small religious denominations and organizations as being cultic, but no one seems to be making much of an effort to unmask the largest cult of all.

Could the majority of religious people be confident that their church has no connection to the various smaller cults, when in reality they, along with them, are paying homage to the Greatest Cult on Earth?

There is a religious system in the world today that has grown to over one billion members by teaching them to give obeisance to a sinful human being. Yet very few are willing to speak out against this enemy of truth.

See if you can identify this major cult leader by reading about his past and present characteristics.

  1. He thinks he is God on earth.
  2. In the past people were killed because they didn't agree with what he had to say.
  3. He thinks he can forgive sin.
  4. He thought he had the right to change the ten commandments.
  5. His headquarters sits upon seven hills.
  6. The chief colors of its leaders are scarlet and purple.
  7. He is masquerading today as the world's greatest peacemaker.
